... and then, once I had re-recorded "Some Kiss" from scratch, I dumped it because it was worse than the original which had been badly slated over at GarageBand.com... and I started again. This is all after the whole album had already been mastered. Just shows- do NOT rush your creative process!

So I re-re-recorded "Some Kiss" (v4) and sent it off to Queensland to get mastered. It came back and I was about to put the album together in its final form when I heard about a special deal available from Abbey Road- yes, THE Abbey Road of The Beatles, Kate Bush et al- where they would master tracks at a reduced price. This was not an opportunity I wanted to miss- to have my music played within the Sacred Walls of an Abbey Road mastering suite, even once- this was the stuff of dreams!

"Some Kiss" travelled mystically across the ether and arrived at Abbey Road. They told me there was a phase problem with the track which was upsetting the stereo image. Woops- perils of teaching yourself to record and mix! So I had to remix the track one more time; I also took the opportunity to raise the level of the vocal after the guitar break, as Roger Illot (who mastered the rest of the album) had suggested.

So there it is. All finished, and with one track mastered at Abbey Road. Yay.

Next problem: getting it out there- any suggestions?
Hmm.. well that elusive last song, "Some Kiss" sure was hard to get down. My "particular drummer" did not materialize, having gone back to Bohemia (the actual Bohemia, in Czech Republic), so i had to rely on loops again. Really, I would have liked to have recorded this song like Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs and Englishmen, huge backing band, multitudes of singers- but clearly this was not possible, so it's just me again.

So... still not finished the album!
Waiting on a drummer, a particular drummer, to record the last track, "Some Kiss"... he's just told me he's not available til February... sigh...
Will it EVER be finished?

then the snow

Autumn leaves
Like you

Scarlet
Brands and scars my heart

In the wood between the worlds
Time holds its breath

Your words fell into silence
A stone into still water

The small tsunami
Of a single life

Earth folds her hands
Then the snow
